2-DAY MTB ROUTE. TO ENJOY!

The 2-day mountain bike route to enjoy the D.O. Pla de Bages!. Because, first, it includes lunch on the first day in a magnificent and unique restaurant, dinner, accommodation and breakfast in a luxurious Hotel (***) as well as food on the second day in a beautiful restaurant with views of Montserrat. Also included is the option of renting a GPS with the included tracks or the road book with the route, in addition to the self-guided route via mobile with a practical App. (Speaktracks). And luggage transport!!

In addition, it includes the Visit to Monestir de Sant Benet de Bages. And, finally, the guided visit to two expert producers, with wine tasting included. Oh, with 2 bottles of the D.O. as a gift!

FIRST DAY

52.6 km and 770 m. cumulative difference (or 44.22 km and 557 m. cumulative difference).

Departing from Manresa, the route heads towards the impressive monastery of Sant Benet de Bages, founded in 960. With an important dedication to wine production, already from its beginnings, it was for centuries competing with that of Montserrat, until it became dependent on it. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was acquired by the family of the painter Ramon Casas, residing there for long periods. Later acquired by a banking entity, it is currently an inspiring complex, work center and food study center: the Alicia Foundation.. Així, Wine Routes. A més, MTB routes. Alhora, MTB wine tours. After crossing Navarcles (with its reservoir known as “the lake”) as well as some precise corners along the way, we arrive at Artés among vineyards. But the track continues to a well-known restaurant where we can enjoy a well-deserved lunch.

Following the track, you pass three producers: an excellent artisanal winery with a perfectly crafted production; the village cooperative – with a wide and varied production of wines; and the only DO cava producer, with a small but excellent range. The route includes a magnificent visit with wine tasting included.

The route takes us to a new producer near Sallent, located between mountains. This will be the most demanding section of the day and practically of the entire route, with 1 km of steep ascent. After crossing Sallent, the route continues through the beautiful landscapes of the “sequia” – a small medieval channel that allowed the transfer of water from the Llobregat to Manresa – to the comfortable accommodation.

The “Light Option” reduces the difficulty of this last stretch, covering the distance (14 km.) that separates the winery from the comfortable accommodation on paths and quiet roads. SECOND DAY

53.00 km and 580 m. accumulated difference.

After breakfast, following sections of the drought – a small medieval canal to allow the transfer of water from the Llobregat to Manresa – through a flat landscape we head to Sant Iscle, a small hermitage and farmhouse – in its time depending on Sant Benet – producers of wine from the vineyards that surround them since very remote times. We arrive at Santpedor – crossing the “aiguamolls de la Bòbila” – visiting its old town.

After crossing several sanctuaries and hermitages and countless farmhouses – many of them next to their stone tubs – we arrive on the outskirts of Sant Joan de Vilatorrada, where surrounded by vineyards, we find another small but professional producer. He doesn’t just produce his wines; advises and collaborates with other small producers …

The route takes us again through small and beautiful forests, approaching Salelles, a magnificent example of the Catalan rural world. Previously, we will have visited a small and expert producer, who even exports part of his limited but extraordinary wine production abroad.

Soon we arrive at the restaurant. Then, the route visits one of the largest and most historic wine producers of the DO Pla de Bages. Tourists from all over the world come to see its facilities, vineyards and productions.

The arrival in Manresa, following in the footsteps of Sant Ignasi de Loyola by “Camí Ignasia” will show us a completely unknown side of the city, ending next to the bus station, next to a Hotel.
